The Collaboration Travel Grants are intended to encourage Care Anywhere trainees to engage in collaborations with research labs outside of Vancouver and gain experience in biosensors and wearables from researchers across the globe. We believe diversity thought and experience in labs and healthcare settings from widespread communities will best inform relevant applications to a variety of populations.
Eligibility:
Open to graduate students in the Care Anywhere program (both master’s and PhD students). Not open to students involved in collaborations already explicitly supported by awarded grants.
Priority will be given to proposals that:
· Are well-aligned with Care Anywhere’s focus on biosensing,
· Give trainees access to and/or training in specialized facilities, resources, or techniques that complement UBC’s resources,
· Seek to establish a new research collaboration, and/or
· Are for students whose UBC supervisor(s) have not had other trainees who have previously received a CTG.
Note: this award is not intended to support conference or symposium travel.
Value of Award:
Students may apply for up to $1,000 per week of travel (5 working days), to a maximum of $3,000 (3 weeks).
Application Procedure:
Applications should be submitted by the student’s supervisor via an email message to care.anywhere@ubc.ca. The email should specify the following:
· Subject line: Care Anywhere Collaboration Travel Grant Application
· Name of student and program details (degree sought, year in program)
· Names of any co-supervisors
· (Provisional) title of thesis

· Brief description of proposed collaboration – nature of project, reason(s) for seeking collaboration, description of specialized facilities or resources, description of any previous relationship or collaboration with proposed collaborators, key activities planned (<200 words)
· Brief budget justifying need for funds, description of how balance of costs will be covered, statement that the collaborators do not currently hold any grants explicitly supporting the proposed collaboration

Applications will initially be accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis (depending on demand, we may shift to a scheduled application deadline in future).
Trainees who receive funding are required to submit a brief report at the end of their travel grant collaboration. The report template will be sent to the succesful PI and trainee by the Care Anywhere Program Administrator.
